School IPM

These are one-day 4 - hour Pesticide Training Classes.

The NJDEP does not require you to take an approved EXAM PREP CLass in order to take the CAT 13 Exam.  However, a great way to study for the CAT 13 Exam is to take our School IPM Class.

This 4-hour training program provides an overview of the requirements of the New Jersey School Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Act and the principles of implementing environmentally responsible pest management programs for schools in regards to turf, and ornamental landscapes.

This class can be used as exam prep for the NJDEP Category 13 School IPM Certification exam, but is not required. Re-Certification Credits are available in the Categories listed below.

This category applies to any pesticide applicator working in New Jersey schools or on school property below the college level, including pre-schools and early childhood learning centers.

All pesticide applicators hired by schools to provide pest control must follow School IPM requirements. However, commercial mosquito control and right-of-way applicators—if not hired by the school—are exempt from these IPM rules when performing their routine work on school property. They still, however, have specific notification responsibilities to inform schools about their activities.

School IPM: New Jersey School IPM Model Policy and Plan

In New Jersey, all schools—public, private, and charter—must have an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) Policy, backed by a school-specific IPM Plan. The Model Policy even called for schools to showcase how they were putting these plans into action, with a detailed implementation report due in June 2004.  (Click here to continue reading and to download the NJ School Model Policy and Plan)
